October 2016 Newsletter
A Message From Randy Taylor
Hello everyone, it seems like it was just yesterday that I was preparing an article for the summer Newsletter, and here we are, the kids are back in school, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays will be here before we know it, and time does really fl y. I wish I could say that 2016 has been a robust year, as the economists were predicting this time last year, but the world economy has been very flat, with little to no growth, and due to this, the trucking industry has been up and down and we just never really got any traction. We have experienced very little truck capacity constraints this year, which eliminated the spot market rates that we have seem in the past years, during the Spring, Summer, and early Fall months. I wish I could tell you that 2017 is going to be better, but at this time the predications that we are hearing, is that the economy is going to remain sluggish for quite some time. I do feel that we will see some improvements late in the second or early third quarters of 2017. Some of the reasons that I feel this way is because, during these quarters of 2017 most trucking companies will be fully engaged with their implementation of the government mandated ELD requirement, which will contribute somewhat to the tighten of the truck capacity. Also, I think we will see some trucking companies exiting the industry during the next six to nine months. The reasons for these exits will be, the sluggish economy, in which, many poorly run companies that are already reeling from the results of 2016 will not be able to withstand it, and the government mandates that are coming in 2017, that will greatly affect our industry, in both time and money.
That’s enough of the negative stuff; let’s get on with some positive and encouraging things. We have been able to keep enough freight on our books to keep our drivers moving, this is different from a lot of our competitors. Also, we have seen great improvements in our CSA scores, Thank You to our drivers for these improvements. As you know Safety is always #1 at WTI, we will never put anything ahead of Safety. Having freight for our trucks is directly attributed to our drivers and the Service that each of you provide to our customers. If our drivers deliver our customer’s freight Safe and On Time, we will rank high in our customer’s satisfaction. If we do our jobs better than anyone else, our customers will continue to reward us for it. Let’s continue to work together, be safe, work hard, enjoy life and end 2016 strong.
Our drivers and support personnel are the BEST in the industry, and I proudly say that I would put us up against any other trucking company out there.
